Ami M. Tully, CFP, President
In 1998, Ami created a partnership with marketing expert, John Lotka, bringing over 20 years of strong sales experience to the newly formed Maximum Impact Partners. Ami started in the financial services industry on the inbound sales desk and went on to serve as National Director of the Independent Dealer Division for Nuveen Investments. Ami was also formerly the National Sales Manager for Fidelity's Plymouth Funds, now the Fidelity Advisor Funds.
Since starting her own firm, Ami has worked with over 90 financial services firms in the U.S and abroad, conducting sales and management training. Ami has helped shape distribution initiatives for leading financial services organizations in Canada, Korea, Japan, and Singapore as well as the U.S. Clients have included AIG SunAmerica, John Hancock Retirement Services, Sequoia System International, Dreyfus, MFS, AXA Japan, Transamerica and Allstate Financial. Ami works primarily with wholesalers, key account managers and sales managers, but also speaks regularly to and with advisors at national conferences and regional meetings on topics ranging from target marketing to the use of technology to improve sales results. Her strong belief in human potential for success sets the tone and drives enduring client relationships at Maximum Impact Partners.
Ami received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Indiana University. Ami is a Certified Financial Planner and is a member of the Financial Planning Association. John Lotka, Founder
John brings his clients 30 years of diverse business leadership experience, having served as Chief Marketing Officer for Cole Capital Markets, as Director of Marketing Administration at John Nuveen & Co., as Chief Operating and Chief Financial Officer of United of America Bank, a $35 million community bank and as a Partner at Frankel & Co., formerly the nation's largest independent marketing services agency, now part of Publicis. Throughout his career in financial services, John has developed a particular expertise in working with the affluent market.
In 1998, John took charge of marketing at Nuveen, establishing functional capabilities for database management, marketing research, distribution marketing support, advertising and financial management for marketing. While at Nuveen, John served as a member of the ICI Sales Force Marketing Committee from 1990-1997 and was a founding member of the Mutual Fund Forum, now known as the Forum for Investor Advice, a trade association that represents the interest of advisor sold fund groups whose members currently account for 80% of all mutual fund assets.
At Frankel, John established a new practice, which worked exclusively with select financial services clients, including Citicorp, Visa USA and First Nationwide Bank. Prior to Frankel, John ran the core operations and financial management of several community banks. As COO and CFO at United of
America, he led a turnaround in profitability enabling the organization to be sold at a considerable profit to Northern Trust Company.
When John founded Maximum Impact Partners in 1998, he recognized that senior sales and marketing people need a flexible outside resource that can sit down with them and go right to work. To meet that need John assembled a team of experienced professionals who have years of experience on the client side creating success in their companies. He views the starting point of any client relationship as focusing on what needs to happen right now, eliminating the learning curve and leveraging the good work that has already been done by the client.

Karen McLoughlin, Office Manager
Karen is an accomplished office manager with more than 20 years of experience in executive assistant and office manager roles. As Office Manager at Maximum Impact Partners, she oversees a wide range of day-to-day business operations. Before joining Maximum Impact Partners, Karen worked at TriWest Healthcare Alliance as Corporate Aircraft Flight Scheduler. Her previous posts include Mark Hancock Development as Office Manager/Administrative Assistant, Marketing; Cole Company as Executive Assistant, Marketing; Scottsdale Hangar One as Corporate Flight Scheduler/Executive Assistant to General Manager; and DMB Associates as Executive Assistant of Director of Marketing. Trent R. Smock, President, STRAIGHT-LINE MANAGEMENT GROUP LLC
Trent Smock is the founder and President of Straight-line Management Group, a management development, training and consulting firm that helps businesses and individuals achieve their goals by focusing on the behavioral strengths People bring to an organization, and how Behavior Impacts Performance. In business since 1998 Trent has a unique background as an entrepreneur and Fortune 500 executive. Rising through the ranks from sales person to company President, Trent started as a field sales rep for dictation equipment, became a sales manager, branch manager and partner is several high tech ventures and on to the President of a injection molding company. Along the way Trent was responsible for the transfer of "know-how" to Italian company Olivetti for franchising of computer retail stores in Europe and Japan. He is active in the community as a former Board Member of the Arizona Technology Incubator, Boys and Girls Club and Founding Member of the Arizona Technology Council. Trent also sits on a number of Advisory Boards for early stage companies. He is a graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Psychology and minor in Business and Political Science. He played football and basketball for Indiana University participating in the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament his freshman year. As a senior he was selected to play in the Blue Gray All-Star football game. Subsequent to college Mr. Smock was drafted by the Detroit Lions, played briefly for the Minnesota Vikings and spent two years playing basketball in Europe. Currently Mr. Smock lives in Chandler Arizona with his wife of 18 years and two teenage boys.

Lin Bercher, IMPACT PARTNER

Lin has worked in the financial services industry since 1978 when she was a financial advisor for a major insurance company. Since then, Lin served 19 years with Kemper Funds (now Deutsche Asset Management) where she held many positions including wholesaler and National Sales Managers before departing in 1999 as Managing Director. In January 2000, Lin, as a founding partner and Group President, helped launch Envestnet Asset Management, a state of the art web based workstation that delivers customized wealth solutions, UMA, managed accounts, alternatives and wrap mutual funds. Bercher Consulting, an independent consulting firm, was launched in June of 2003.
The industry regularly calls on Lin to help broker dealers, advisors and investment product distributors with strategic planning, market assessment and execution. Rick Jensen, Ph.D., Founder of the Performance Center at PGA National Resort and Spa, is a nationally recognized performance consultant and sport psychologist. Dr. Jensen works extensively with top performers in the world of financial services and has consulted within Merrill Lynch, UBS, Smith Barney, US Bancorp, Prudential Securities, American Express, and First Union.

Jim Pomerance, IMPACT PARTNER
Jim Pomerance has over 10 years of experience teaching, coaching and training presentation, communication and sales skills in the financial services arena. He started as a consultant with one of the top presentation skills companies in the United States. From there he became the National Sales Training Director at both AIG SunAmerica Retirement Markets and Cole Capital Markets. Jim has also been a southern divisional Sales Manager at Sun Life Financial Services on their variable annuity side.
For the past 3 years, Jim started his own consulting firm, Impact Speakers where he continued to do the work he is passionate about. He serves as a keynote speaker at national conferences, breakout sessions and lunch and learns, runs presentation skills seminars in a classroom setting and travels in the field with wholesalers and reps to help teach, coach and train them to become more productive and get more immediate results.

Laura Mulhall, IMPACT PARTNER
In 2002, Laura Mulhall co-founded Executive Access, LLC, a firm dedicated to supporting its clients by understanding their goals and core competencies. Executive Access assists them in bringing their message to their targeted audience via outbound telemarketing. A unit of the firm also works one on one with each field sales representative, assisting with list management and scheduling their client appointments. Currently, the firm has over 25 employees in various locations around the country.
Laura has worked in the financial services industry since 1984. She started on the sales desk for Integrated Resources, Inc and held other positions, including annuity marketing manager. In 1990, she joined Oppenheimer Funds, Inc., rising to Director of National Accounts, then Director of the Financial Advisor Division overseeing the strategic direction of the group’s forty-plus member field sales team. Budgeting and profit analysis were also key functions. She has also served as Executive Vice President at Dreyfus Service Corp where she was responsible for the sales of mutual funds and variable annuities to planners, banks, insurance companies and RIAs.

William Swanson, President, Swanson Financial Consulting
Bill brings over twenty years of diverse financial services industry experience to Maximum Impact Partners, predominately in the more quantitative areas. At the beginning of his career Bill spent thirteen years at John Nuveen & Company. At Nuveen he fulfilled a variety of increasing complex roles, beginning with modeling potential new financial products and ending as the Director of Finance for a business unit with $35 billion dollars of assets under management. Along the way he managed the capital structure for the Exchange-Traded Fund product line at Nuveen, built option-pricing models to take advantage of anomalies in callable bond prices, and developed new cross-functional processes devoted exclusively to fund risk management. Many of these analytical methods were used for Board-level fund management across all product lines.
Since 2000, Bill has offered his quantitative and management services through Swanson Financial Consulting. His many institutional clients include institutional financial advisors, marketing and distribution specialists, and commodities trading firms. With these clients Bill continues to provide analytical assistance by evaluating fund performance, providing sales force production analysis, writing market and research commentary for client distribution, and improving securities trading systems.
Bill received his MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management with concentrations in Finance and Managerial Economics & Decision Sciences. His bachelor's degree is from The University of Michigan School of Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and additional emphasis in Accounting.
